Island is an installation comprising a selection of domestic mirrors laid out in a field for viewers to visit in different weather conditions. Ordinarily hanging on a wall in a home in isolation, Mayhew arranged these mirrors together in a group inviting viewers to inspect their reflection, which changed according to the light levels and the weather conditions, through a vehicle (a mirror) that others would see themselves through.
